RECORD SUPERANNUATION RAIDS SOUND THE ALARM ON HEALTH SYSTEM COSTS

17 July 2019

An article in the Australian today reveals that nearly 30,000 applications were approved for early access to super to pay medical bills in the last financial year as waiting lists and out-of-pocket costs are at record highs under the Morrison Government.

It could not be clearer that this is further proof that the Liberals need to address the crisis in private health insurance and properly fund our public hospitals and health services.

The article presents detail from a Freedom of Information request showing the superannuation payouts used to fund private healthcare will soon be paid out at $400 million a year.

Australians should not be forced to draw down on super or other savings to access essential health care.

Under this Liberal Government costs have never been higher and waiting times have never been longer for health services in Australia.
