ELECTORATE DATA CONFIRMS DOCTORS VISIT COSTS ARE SKY HIGH UNDER THE LIBERALS

Official new data confirms what people in Australia already know that health costs have never been higher than under Scott Morrison.

The Governments own Health Departmenthas revealed to the Senatethat people in every single electorate in Australia are paying higher costs to see a GP under the Liberals.

This is after senior officials admitted at Senate Estimates in October that health out-of-pocket costs across the board are at record highs.

The data provided by the Department of Health confirms:

  • Patients in thirty-eight electorates now pay more than $40 to visit their doctor after rebates;
  • The most expensive electorate to visit a GP leaves patients $48.68 out-of-pocket on average;
  • Seeing a GP in forty-three electorates has risen by over $10 under the Liberals;
  • To see a GP in one electorate costs patients 58 per cent more than it did six years ago;
  • Patients in ninety-seven electorates pay over $80 to see a specialist under the Coalition.

The Health Department has also contradicted the Governments claims on bulk billing in this data, showing exactly how many patients are left with fees to pay after seeing their doctor.

These new figures are a damning indictment of the Coalitions record of cuts and neglect in health.
After the Liberals tried and failed to impose a GP Tax, they introduced the Medicare freeze a GP tax-by-stealth.

Scott Morrison extended the freeze as Treasurer, leading directly to the out-of-pocket costs that people in Australia face today.

Health costs have never been higher than under Scott Morrison.
