Our entire McMahon community has been saddened this morning to learn of the deaths of two local firefighters overnight who served in the Horsley Park Rural Fire Brigade in my electorate.

Deputy Captain Geoffrey Keaton and Firefighter Andrew ODwyer were near Bilpin when a falling tree struck their vehicle. The incident claimed their lives and seriously injured several others.

All our thoughts are with their families, friends and fellow firefighters in this tragic time. I know their colleagues in the Rural Fire Service will have little time to mourn their loss as they continue to fight the horrific fires that have engulfed our State.

I know our community will come together to support their families at this most difficult of times.

These heroes gave their lives for all of us. On behalf of our community, I extend my condolences to their families and loved ones.
