There hasnt been a Budget or Budget sell that Malcolm Turnbull and Scott Morrison havent managed to stuff up.
Today the acting Prime Minister and Treasurer couldnt agree when Christmas was and who was playing Santa Claus.
And lets be frank, SloMo is no Santa Claus, having managed to pursue: increases in income tax for millions of working and middle income Australians, axing the Energy Supplement for 2 million Australians including 400,000 age pensioners, and an increase in the pension age to 70.
Acting Prime Minister, Michael McCormack told the Daily Telegraph today:
On May 8, as on December 25, Scott Santa Claus Morrison will be announcing some goodies.
This morning, Scott Morrison replied:
I can tell Australians that I am not Santa Claus and there will not be a Christmas in May.
Its all going well then.
In 2016 the Prime Minister and Treasurer couldnt agree on what date the Budget would be but ended up agreeing on a $65 billion hand out to big business.
In 2017, Scott Morrison promised action on housing affordability and could only manage to deliver a taxpayer funded TV ad campaign alongside a $44 billion increase in income tax.
All we have seen from Scott Morrison on tax thus far is the Christmas Grinch, talking up income tax cuts but delivering nothing more than income tax hikes and lumps of coal.
