NSW LIBERALS NEED TO COMPLETE BACKDOWN ON WESTERN SYDNEY MEGA-INCINERATOR

13 July 2017

A NSW Minister and Member for Mulgoa, Tanya Davies, has at five minutes to midnight jumped on board the platform of strong community opposition to the worlds biggest incinerator that is proposed for Eastern Creek in Western Sydney.

The Premier Gladys Berejiklian now needs to intervene and stop the proposed incinerator from proceeding.

Western Sydney is not a dumping ground for Sydneys problems and the sooner the NSW Liberal Government recognises that the better.

State Labor MP, Edmond Atalla and Federal Labor MPs for Chifley, Greenway, Lindsay and myself have made a submission to the Government and have been campaigning strongly against this proposal with the local community for the last year or so.

People in my electorate, in the suburbs of St Clair and Erskine Park, have already been dealing with the significant issue of odours and smells impact on their community and so the proposed incinerator and the resulting air pollution residues is the last thing they need.

This proposal should never have made it this far. If the NSW Liberal Government had the will power and desire this proposal would have died months ago.

We now await a statement from the Berejiklian Government stating that it will not support or approve the mega-incinerator proposal.
